Mr. Twomey has resided in Florida since his release from active
duty Army service in 1970. He has a B.S. from the Florida State
University College of Business and a J.D. from the Florida State
University College of Law.
Most of his 30 years practice of law has been in the field of
regulated utilities. He was an attorney and supervising attorney
at the Florida Public Service Commission for 10 years, spent 3
sessions assisting with the revision of Florida’s utilities
statutes as Senior Committee Counsel to the Florida House of
Representatives and then assisted Attorney General Bob
Butterworth with telecommunications fraud and other regulated
utilities matters as an Assistant Attorney General for two
years. For the last 14 years Mr. Twomey has been in private
practice primarily representing consumer interests at the Public
Service Commission and before the Florida Legislature.
Mike is married to Laura Rush, also an attorney. He has two
sons, Michael, Jr., who begins SEAL training with the U.S. Navy
in June and Thomas, who starts at Florida State University as a
freshman this summer. With over 20 years Active and Reserve
service with the U.S. Army, Mike retired as a Lieutenant Colonel
in 1992. He is a Vietnam veteran. |
